Book and character designs based on my 3 year old daughter’s sketches and made up stories. Combining our love for drawing and imagination. We have turned what started out as fun little project for me and her to do together into a kickstarter project to turn it into a published children’s book.
My daughter and I like drawing pictures and coming up with stories for the characters we design. Well I do as I’m told, she may be only three, but she’s the boss!
During half term I wanted to do something with her so I got out a huge pad of A3 paper and some pencils and we started to draw together. She would draw something and tell me what it was and I would go over her pictures with a pen, smoothing out the shape and adding bits of detail.
The first image we did together was of a dinosaur! She loved it, and instantly started drawing her next picture for me to draw over.
I wanted to take the images further so I imported the images into Illustrator and started to create digital versions of the images.
Originally, I had only really considered the project to be something for me and her, I had planned on making it into a book just for us to read together and so she could have something she had created.
I added the digital images to my social media sites and not only did people love them but they started to suggest I turned them into books / posters etc. Seeing other people like and support the images made me think about publishing the book for other people.
