Working with found objects in a physical sense has been a stable of my practice for the last few years, I enjoy finding things and thinking of ways which I could use them within my work. I like how I never know what I am going to find, and the resulting work stems from a moment of chance or a lucky find.
Though I have worked within digital art for even longer, if I am searching for an image to assist my work then I am literally searching for that image. The choices of image I end up using do again rely on an element of luck in finding that specific image, but given the parameters of my search it is certainly a guided decision.
My current experiments are set within trying to combine these two worlds:
- To allow chance and luck to play a major role in the digital images from which I work with, and to allow the resulting work to develop more organically and without preconception of either its beginning or its end.
- To look at ways to combine the found digital imagery with found physical objects.
- To further explore ideas of self dictated aesthetic principles.
This post is more a journal of experiments then anything specific. It is a document of my process as I try to explore and develop new ideas and processes to help with future projects and possibilities.
